Classes on as normal - despite the snow!

Hello my name is Lynne Godding and I am a Colourstrings Music Kindergarten teacher.
That is a bit of a mouthful but means I have been specifically trained to teach music to very young children.
Engaging with young children and their parents and opening up their musical world is my passion.
I was introduced to the Colourstrings approach when my own daughter was 13 months old and we attended classes together for several years.
I was intrigued and impressed with this holistic, fun way to put across sound musical theory in such an accessible way.
It was then that I was offered the opportunity to train as a teacher myself which I seized as I was looking to change career having started my family.

I trained for a year to gain my certificate as a Colourstrings Music Kindergarten Associate Teacher.
I was lucky enough to be taught by the Colourstrings international tutor Karen Mackenzie.
I have since continued my training by completing the advanced certificate.
To enrol on the basic training course potential teachers have to have reached at least grade 5 in a musical instrument or singing and have a good singing voice.
Fortunately I met both those criteria having had professional singing lessons since I was 12 years old!
I have been working as a Colourstrings teacher since 1999 and have worked as such for Kent Music and in Kent primary schools.
In 2001 I started my own music teaching practice in Walderslade village with just two classes
(one for babies and one for toddlers) and a dozen pupils.
This has grown to 16 classes in four different venues across Kent and Surrey, teaching up to 120 pupils a week.

Although my qualifications mean that I can teach children up to the age of eight (year 3 at school),
I have chosen to specialise in new-born to school age children.
My youngest pupil was just two weeks old but the average starting age for babies is around three to four months,
however it doesn't matter if your child is older than that (it's never too late to start).
I love the privilege of sharing my joy of music with young children and seeing them discover it for themselves.
